Soul Purpose ~ The Serious and the Silly

What is our SOUL Purpose?
"May your life preach more loudly than your lips." - William Ellery Channing
The Serious and the Silly ~ that is what Easter is about!

eas·ter
/ˈēstər/
Noun
  1. The most important and oldest festival of the Christian Church, celebrating the resurrection of Christ and held (in the Western Church)...
  2. The period in which this occurs, esp. the weekend from Good Friday to Easter Monday.

res·ur·rec·tion

[rez-uh-rek-shuhn]
noun
1.
the act of rising from the dead.

What does it mean to "rise" from the dead?
There are so many ways to look at Death.

Is Winter Dead?
What about a pencil; is that dead?
or how about a seed in a package?
What about an idea?

This Season is about the magical, mystery thing we called living between life and death.

Where does our SOUL fit into all this?

Easter Sunday, bring your thoughts and ideas to share in beloved community!

And onto the Silly!
Egg coloring and hunts,
Bunnies and baskets,

Spring-time fever sillies;
there will most surly be some of this as well this Sunday!

Our 7th UU Principle calls for us to Care for our Earth,
and our 1st UU Principle says we all are pretty cool,
our 2nd to have compassion in our interactions,
so this Easter,
let us care for our Earth and all its creatures -
including our Souls! and be silly and sometimes serious,
and most importantly,
be compassionate about LIFE!

Pondering Palms and Passover

Pondering Palms and Passover

Peace!
Isn't that what it is all about?

What do we care for that brings us,
our families, and our world peaceful?

What do Palms and Passover has to do with Peace anyway?

Circle Round For Freedom

Circle round for freedom
Circle round for peace
For those of us in prison
Circle for release
Circle round the planet
Circle for each soul
For our future generations
Keep the circle whole.

Transformation ~ Life & Death

look really closely, what do you see growing through from the dead leaves?
Transformation

We are transforming ( changing) beings all the time,
(a little like plants)!
Check out this life cycle of a plant.

How is OUR life/death cycle similar
and different then a plant?

In this season of Lent, almost at Holy Week,
let us reflect on these words:
"To Live in Hearts the LOVE is not to Die"

What does it mean to you?
Bring your thoughts on Sunday to share!

Amazing Grace is a song that is played by many people who have lost
someone close to them who have died.

How does this song make you feel?

How about this Prayer/poem by e.e. cummings

Edward Estlin Cummings (October 14, 1894-September 3, 1962) better known as e.e. cummings, was raised Unitarian. How does this Prayer/Poem make you feel about life and death?

i thank You God for most this amazing. . .

i thank You God for most this amazing
day:for the leaping greenly spirits of trees
and a blue true dream of sky;and for everything
which is natural which is infinite which is yes
(i who have died am alive again today,
and this is the sun’s birthday;this is the birth
day of life and love and wings:and of the gay
great happening illimitably earth)
how should tasting touching hearing seeing
breathing any–lifted from the no
of all nothing–human merely being
doubt unimaginable You?
(now the ears of my ears awake and
now the eyes of my eyes are opened)

Planting Goodness

Planting Goodness

As Unitarian Universalists (UU's), we are called to care
for our planet Earth which we are all a part of;

During this Lenten Season, What will you plant?

Starting Seeds inside, that will then be placed outside in the garden

Don't turn back, what is the world whispering to the seeds?
Grow, Grow! What will you be in 40 days?

Watch this Lent Video ~ How does it relate to the seeds we are planting?
