Butterflies and Beasts

Butterflies and Beasts

Question:

What do you get when you put together a season of butterflies migrating and little beasts?

Answer:

Day of the Dead!

How do you honor those who are no longer with us, who have died?

What special things do you do?

What stories do you remember about these people and animals?

Come Sunday to hear a story called: Butterflies, Bonfires and Beautiful Beasts -a little history about this season of death and how we celebrate it.

Autumn AWE-some-ness!

Autumn AWE-some-ness!

what does it looks like outside your window?

As the colorful leaves fall to the ground,

they have died in one sense but,

they also are giving life in another sense.

The leaves will give warmth to the new flower bulbs that

are sleeping all winter long. The leaves bring us great joy to

jump and lay and travel through them.

Question:

The leaves .............. What do they share with you?

As the Bulbs rest and the little birds gather leaves and nuts and treats for their winter home, ....

How do you spend your Autumn season?

The Bulbs are Ready for Bed

The Bulbs are Ready for Bed

"Where flowers bloom so does hope."

-  Lady Bird Johnson, Public Roads: Where Flowers Bloom

Goodnight little bulbs in the earth;

don't worry if you get a little cold before your birth.

In the fall and winter you will rest well;

and arrive in the spring and summer like the ringing bells!

Colorful little ones that sleeps in the dark,

your amazing beauty makes a mark.

Smells and sights that bring joy to the streets

in our souls and down to our feets!

So rest well and we will pray for you;

we know it takes a bunch of time,

for you to do what you need to do.

We will have hope as the snow and cold wind blows,

for your glory will truly grow!

- Laura Evonne Steinman

Do you plant bulbs in the autumn time near your home, school, neighborhood?

Why do we do this?

Who does it effect?

Den Dwellers

Den Dwellers

...And the sucking child shall play on the hole of the asp,

and the weaned child shall put his hand on the cockatrice' den. - Isaiah 11:6-9

An Animal Den is a pretty cool home under the ground.

What would your home look like if you lived in a Den?

What do you think some animals might want to live underground?

What can we do to care our our Den Dwellers?

Dirty Hands, BIG Hearts!

I think that one's art is a growth inside one. I do not think one can explain growth. It is silent and subtle. One does not keep digging up a plant to see how it grows. - Emily Carr
